Travel

I was essentially born with the travel bug.  From a young age I was mesmerised by the idea of travelling the world and vowed that when I grew up I would leave home and taste the world, one country at a time.

Well there’s dreams and then there’s reality. I never quite took that gap year but I ended up studying and working in Japan for several years. Even so, one of my biggest regrets was to not have travelled more while I was there.

While friends were busy going off on adventures to South East Asia and Down Under, I spent most of my 20s immersed in Japanese work culture. So much for living life without any regrets!  But I’m also a strong believer in things happening for a reason.  Had I not worked as much as I did back then, I wouldn’t have had the funding I needed to see me through some of my most difficult years during the recession (alas, we’re all still in it).

And so I’ve made a promise to myself that I would not let another year go by without fulfilling one of my life’s ongoing dreams.  Whether a quick weekend holiday or a year long trek around the world (one day), I look forward to sharing my life’s travels with you.
